Asher's Nursery
Basically as soon as I found out that baby was on board, I started thinking about the nursery decor. Obviously my priorities are very much in check. Instantly I knew the room would be pink and bright and fun. I love a traditional grandmillenial inspired space but it has no business being in this house.
The inspo: I was antiquing at Brimfield Market over the summer and in between sitting down for a rest (woof, first trimester I was a zombie!) and thanksgiving subs (turkey, cranberry, stuffing on a sub… only ate one, should have ate 7) I found these vintage 1970’s Barnum & Bailey programs. They were so colorful and had tigers which means I bought all 4 and decided that the nursery would be 1970’s neon circus theme.
When. I got home, i realized the background on my computer matched the programs and that I had to do an accent wall…. Then I found out that she was actually going to be a he… I paused for a minute and was like ummm is this insane for a boys room? One friend told me the wallpaper was very vanderpump boudoir and I fully agreed and was like yes, that is my son’s vibe. lets do this.
Wall Color: So when I was thinking Asher was going to be a girl, I was going to do bubblegum pink walls and red window treatments. Even thought I feel very strongly about gender non conforming decor & I fully encourage boys to have pink rooms, I thought it was a bit much with the hot pink wallpaper. So, to butch it up a bit, I wanted something neutral.
I got samples of three colors from Clare Paint: Timeless, Whipped & Views and then obviously posted an instagram poll to decide which color. You guys voted Whipped. I went with with Timeless. Sorry, for disobeying you my pretties. Timeless is the perfect creamy color and the perfect base layer to build on.
Side Note: I HATE that grey is the new cream. Give me a house filled with cream walls any day. Grey is depressing. Used spairingly it can be chic but a house full of grey walls is an energy suck. Our house was a flip and they painting the whole thing grey and we are still chipping away at the walls. The kitchen is next.
Back to the paint. So the Clare Paint samples are legit cause they stick right on the wall and you don’t have to bother painting a sample to see how it looks in different light. Plus my painter (Tim) who has worked with every kind of paint at this point said it’s hands down his favorite. I didn’t try it cause I was preggo but he said it went on super smooth. So from here on out, we are a Clare paint family.
Wallpaper: I have discussed this before but it’s the background of my computer. I found the image years ago on pinterest and fell in love. I knew nothing about it other than it was a wallpaper and I guessed from the 70’s based on the design. So I searched and searched and couldn’t track down any info on it. I decided to take creative licence and trace it and have it printed FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. I decided that if in 50 years someone was desperate for a willa heart print, I would be okay with them doing the same. Just as long as they weren’t selling it and profiting off my blood sweat and tears.
The rest: This is getting way way way too long. If you are actually interested in hearing more, shoot me a DM or comment on this so I know that people want more. Otherwise this is it.
