The TV Club: Pandemic Edition
well well well… I know I said I was taking a break from movie club but here we are… In the midst of a global pandemic and i hold the key to hours upon hours of good old fashion fun… I am talking binge watching people!
Little known fact, I am a voyer. I betcha all think I listen to music when I paint cause I play music on all those nifty little paint videos… uh uh, I don’t think so hunny bee. I watch tv shows. They keep my brain the perfect amount of occupied. I really should try some educational podcasts or a book but as I said earlier, voyeurism is my bag baby.
So here it is, my list of highly recommended TV shows to keep your lil brains occupied while the world melts.
Veronica Mars
This was the first show I ever binged and maybe my favorite. I remember watching it and like not being able to live until I finished it. It was all consuming. It is so good, I legit would read Veronica Mars fan fiction. If you aren’t a Mashmellow, do something about it. The show is smart, funny, mysterious and has Paris Hilton & Lisa Rinna/ Harry Hamlin cameos.
Absolutly Fabulous
I rewatch every few years. It’s heaven.
Hart of Dixie
I watched this our first year living in South Carolina and it hit home. It was about a big city girl (moi) who moves to a rural town in the south and is like what the fuck. Camden (my little southern town) is just like Bluebell. Cute and charming but we don’t have nearly as many shenanigans. Have I mentioned that I grew up in Boston and very randomly now live in the south. I am basically Zoe Hart minus the whole being a doctor thing.
Gilmore Girls
It took me a while to get on board with this one but once I watched the first episode, I was hooked. It made me want to be a young fast talking single mom raising my daughter in a cute Connecticut town. 10/10 would recommend.
Cybil
This is basically the American version of Ab Fab. Christine Baranski steals every scene and is perfection. Wanna know the tea? Christine was so good that Cybil was jeally and there was crazy drama on set and the show went caput. I say bring it back without Cybil.
Mrs Maisel
This is some basic bitch bullshit but if loving it is wrong, I don’t want to be right. I am also obsessed with it from a design standpoint. It’s beautiful.
The Comeback
This really should be higher on the list. The list isn’t in order of best to worst though so whatever but like you guys have to watch. It’s hilarious. MUST WATCH!
Schitt’s Creek
It’s just so good. I am low key in love with David.
The Office
Guys, I just watched last year and it’s super funny. In my mind, I was like how can a show about an office be funny. That sounds boring. It is so funny. I’m a boob for holding out so long. Don’t be a boob, watch the show.
The Nanny
I need to watch this one start to finish. I have seen every episode but not in order, that desperately needs to change.
Martha Stewart Living
Once I watched a full 30 minutes on how to make a bed and I don’t regret a thing. They really should play repeats of this on tv. It’s so good.
Arrested Development
it’s a classic. Obvious in the way Friends, Sex & the CIty and of course Seinfeld should be on the list but they aren’t cause you all already know that you should be watching. Arrested Development is just slightly more obscure and you might need reminding. I am here for the gentle nudge.
Buffy
This is the only one on the list I haven’t watched but I hear it’s must see tv
I am bored of this so here is the rest:
High Fidelity
Dollface
Summer Heights High
Freaks and geeks
Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23
Mindy Project
New Girl
Happy Endings
Daria
GCB
Silicon Valley
Kath & Kim
Love
Curb your enthusiasm
Drag race
Bored to death
Eastbound & Down
Vice Principles
Broad City
Murder She Wrote
Okay so lots of these are streaming but a bunch aren’t. Veronica Mars is worth buying. Buy episode 1 if you don’t trust me. You will end up buying the whole season.
I hope these keep your mind and anxiety quiet for a while! I cant wait to hear what you guys watch!
